Sixt rent a car in Athina

  This is my experience in trying to rent a car from sixt in Greece. Lady at the counter was too busy flirting on the phone to even look up at us. When trying to pick up the car, she wanted my Canadian driver's license. I had presented her an international driver's permit which is valid for a year and is proof that I have a driver's license in Canada. You can't even apply for one otherwise, idiots. When I wanted the reservation refunded, she wouldn't give me a full refund citing their cancellation policy. She then handed the phone to me and I had a rude customer service dog trying to read out their terms and conditions to which I said I'm not interested in a lecture from you. She turned into a rude, bratty teenager and gave me attitude, then wouldn't let me speak to a manager. We had walked about 3km with all our luggage from our Airbnb in Monasteriki to the Athens Hilton to pick up the car, thinking the reservation would've been upheld. We were supposed to drive from Athens to Thessaloniki, but because of sixt we were stranded and our entire day was ruined. We finally had to get a train which was an hour late and we arrived in Thessaloniki after midnight, about 6 hours after our expected arrival. Not only that, but my girlfriend caught a cold while stuck waiting in the Athens Hilton lobby. We had to spend 90€ on train tickets and another 10€ on Uber. I expect a full refund as well as compensation for our additional expenses or I will make sure no one wastes another penny on sixt in the future. Furthermore, I took a screenshot of their terms and conditions and it makes no mention of me needing to bring my Canadian driver's license in addition to a valid international driver's permit. Oh and for the record, Enterprise and Hertz had no issues with my driver's permit and were shocked when I told them what sixt had done. We rented a car from Hertz in Thessaloniki for 8 days and our experience was wonderful.

  Great rental! Very friendly and helpful staff. Great car. Reasonable rate (40% less) compared to US brand rental a block away. No high pressure sales..

  They lost my reservation. Then they lost the key from their office. Overall I had to wait for more than 2 hours to get a car.

  Difficult to find (it is inside the hotel but is not indicated). Just one attendant so we have to wait about 30' . Even though we received a free upgrade, we didn't like the return procedure: we have to park in the street and left the car keys in the reception at the hotel, so nobody check our gas tank deposit or whatever damage to the car so the refund lasts 2-3 days
